Terms of Service

Welcome to Lumen Christi. By using our app or website (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully — they're written to be as clear as possible.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by the Lumen Christi team ("we", "our"). For any legal question, contact [email protected].
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age required by your country's data-protection laws, please use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
- One person, one account — please don't share login credentials.
- If you discover unauthorised use of your account, contact us immediately.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access another user's account or our backend systems without authorization
- Disrupt, overload, or attempt to disable the Service
- Scrape or harvest content from the Service for commercial republication
- Misrepresent yourself or impersonate another person
- Upload content that is unlawful, hateful, or harmful to others
Connect — the community of prayer
Before you post or comment in Connect you are asked to agree to its Community Guidelines and to these Terms. Connect is a place of faith and charity, and there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You agree not to post, comment, quote or attach anything that is:
- hateful, harassing, bullying or threatening, or that attacks anyone for who they are;
- sexual, obscene or violent;
- a scam, a request for money, bank or card details, PINs or one-time codes, or advertising;
- someone else's private information, or anything you do not have the right to share;
- deliberately false, or mocking of the faith or of another person's prayer.
Some wording is refused automatically. Anyone can report a post, a comment or an account from its menu, and can block another member. Our team reviews every report within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules and suspend, or close, the account that posted it. If your account is suspended you will see why inside Connect, and you may write to [email protected] if you believe it is a mistake.
What you share in Connect is shown to other members, and stays yours: you grant us a limited licence to store and show it in the app until you delete it or your account.
5. Content & intellectual property
Our content
The app's design, code, original written content, and brand assets are the intellectual property of Lumen Christi. You may use them only as part of the Service.
Sacred and Church content
Liturgical texts, Scripture translations, the Catechism, and approved Catholic prayers belong to their respective copyright holders (the Holy See, USCCB, and others). Lumen Christi presents them under the terms permitted for non-commercial devotional use.
Your content
Anything you save (notes, bookmarks, etc.) remains yours. By saving it on our servers, you grant us a limited licence to store and display it back to you across your devices.
6. Pricing
Lumen Christi is free. There are currently no in-app purchases or paid features. If we ever introduce optional paid features (for example, support pledges), they will be clearly marked and never required to access core devotional content.
7. Suspension or termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including suspending an account from Connect alone. You may close your account at any time — see the account deletion page.
8. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". While we work hard to provide accurate Catholic content, we make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. The Service is a devotional aid and is not a substitute for participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lumen Christi will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced inside the app and on this page. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Lagos, Nigeria, except where local consumer-protection laws give you stronger rights.
