Delete your account
You can permanently delete your Lumen Christi account and personal data at any time, from the app or from this page.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)
- Open Lumen Christi on your phone.
- Tap your profile picture (or your initial) at the top right of the Home screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Type DELETE and confirm. Your account and personal data are removed immediately.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can't access the app, send an email to [email protected] from the email address you used to register. Include the subject line "Delete my account". We will:
- Confirm your identity within 2 working days.
- Delete your account and personal data within 30 days of confirmation.
- Send a final confirmation email once your data has been removed.
Heads up: account deletion is permanent. Your bookmarks, favorites, prayer streaks and notes cannot be recovered after deletion.
What gets deleted
- Your account record (email, display name, OAuth identifiers)
- Your profile preferences (language, Bible version, notification settings)
- Your bookmarks, favorites, notes, prayer-streak history, and reading-plan progress
- Your push-notification tokens (so reminders stop being sent)
- Everything you shared in Connect — posts, prayer requests, comments, quotes, photos, reactions, follows and blocks — and the comments others left on your posts
- Your parish membership and member card
- Feedback you sent from inside the app
- Any support emails you've sent — on request
What we keep, and why
To meet our legal and operational obligations, we may retain a very small amount of data after deletion:
- Anonymised diagnostic logs (no link to you personally) — typically up to 90 days.
- Records required by law — we keep no record of donations; if you gave through Paystack, Paystack keeps its own payment records as the law requires.
- Backups — your data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days, after which it is overwritten.
Processing time
- In-app deletion: immediate, with full purge from active databases within 24 hours.
- Email request: identity confirmation within 2 working days; full deletion within 30 days.
- Backups: overwritten within 90 days.
Just want to uninstall?
If you only want to stop using the app, you can simply delete it from your phone — your account will remain in case you change your mind. To stop receiving notifications without deleting your account, turn them off in Settings → Notifications inside the app.
